Document Verification Service
VeroID uses the Document Verification Service (DVS) to verify a person's government-held identity documents.
The DVS allows for instant, online identity verification. A person's name, address, date of birth and identity documents may be confirmed against government-held records. The DVS supports businesses to meet 'know your customer' requirements and to combat fraud and identity crime.

Most providers sell sanctions and PEP checks as a second product. VeroID runs screening on the same API, the same keys and the same credit wallet. Live screening is 0.5 credits per check ($0.75/check early access, $0.95/check standard, ex GST). One KYC flow, no second vendor.

See our authorised Document Verification Service statements at veroid.com.au/document-verification-service. Your app sends document details to our REST API; you receive a real-time Y/N/D result in the response. We do not store names, dates of birth, or document numbers. Pass/fail outcomes are kept only as audit metadata and are not retrievable later via GET.

An API key, our published docs, and a server-side integration. Test keys (sk_test_*) work against test-api.veroid.com.au with real DVS test hub verifications and confirmed IVS test records, with no credits consumed. Switch to api.veroid.com.au with sk_live_* for production when approved.

We're targeting public launch in Q3 2026. Early access customers receive test-environment access as their accounts are approved, before public launch.

If the VeroID service has not launched by 31 December 2026, Early Access customers may request a refund of the activation fee within 30 days of that date. See our Terms of Service for full details. Except as stated there, Early Access fees are non-refundable.

The Document Verification Service (DVS) is the only national capability offered by the Australian Government for businesses and government agencies to instantly and securely verify their customers' identity, without compromising their privacy. Government agencies and businesses can use the DVS to verify identity documents. This will involve checking certain biographic information on an identity document, like someone's name, address, or date of birth. Once a person provides express consent and their government-issued identity document, the DVS verifies the document against the government-held record.

Developer accounts pay a one-time $500 onboarding fee (ex GST, normally $750) before public launch. That includes 100 verification credits and locks in $1.50/DVS check and $0.75/screening check for 12 months. After that period, standard rates apply ($1.95 DVS, $0.95 screening). Additional credits can be purchased as prepaid packs.

Dashboard accounts subscribe for $49/month (ex GST), which includes 10 verification credits each billing period and access to run checks from the dashboard UI. You can buy additional credit packs while your subscription is active. Dashboard accounts are not issued API keys. No developer onboarding fee applies.

Credits do not expire while your account remains active.

On prepaid developer accounts, API calls return an error when credits run out. Top up from your developer portal and you are back in business. High-volume customers can discuss monthly invoicing separately.

We offer a Screening API for sanctions, PEP, and adverse media at 0.5 credits per live check. Sandbox screening uses predefined test names for integration testing only — not open search. For DVS consent obligations, see docs.veroid.com.au/docs/consent and IDMatch guidance for users.

As an approved gateway service provider, VeroID has a direct connection to the Document Verification Service, which is operated by the Australian Government. Businesses or government agencies can use this connection to verify a person's identity, with their express consent, against government-held records.
